This weekend the BF and I, plus our friends Liz and Burch went out to dinner to celebrate (or be sad about) the fact that Burch was leaving in search of a higher education...which is RIDICULOUSLY overrated. We opted for an Italian place downtown that I had previously mentioned in this post but hadn't actually tried yet. We were looking for something new, so Liz - having eaten lunch there, suggested Bettola.
Oh. My. Gosh.
It was delicious.
It's a smidge pricey but TOTALLY worth it, and it's more of an experience than just grabbing a bite somewhere.
We ordered...
Antipasto - our choice of an assortment of meats, cheeses, and "condiments" including grilled eggplant, with bread
Small Plates - Artichoke, tomato and mozzarella crostini
Entreés - Mine was an amazing homemade pasta with pork ragu sauce, people also order pizza.
Dessert - Liz and I made a joint decision to get two and split both...tiramisu and some kind of amazing chocolate wrapped in pastry with cream
And accompanied all of this with wonderful wine that wasn't crazy over priced (I'll pay $8 a glass for something yummy). I will say, they had a very small list available by the glass, but what they did have was good.
By the time we left I felt full and happy - but not overstuffed. They do a great job with portion control (I've heard that about Europeans).
Generally an amazing meal. It will definitely be my next suggestion for a (nice) dinner with the fam. You should all try it...and take me with you.
