The One with Ramblings

Thought: I am the worst blogger in the history of the world. Apologies.

Things I've thought about today ... clearly I'm in a funk.

A. buying a puppy (rescuing a puppy...stealing someone else's puppy...)
B. picking up everything and moving to a foreign country - I could probably handle that right? If I could magically speak other languages...
C. how I could redecorate my office, including painting it a pretty shade of peacock blue, without my boss noticing

That's all I've got for the moment.

I think this blog thing might be wrapping up. 2011 - the year of the non-blog. or the revised blog. something!

The One About What I Can Do

So two of my best friends (and their child) are moving to London today. I said moving...not visiting, not studying abroad (mainly because we're not in college anymore), not spending a summer...they're actually moving, to live there, for a long time. It's sad - but they're going to have the best, most amazingly unbelievably, envy-inducing time...so kudos to them. My lovely friend has a blog, so I made her a blog header, and here it is...

Feel free to let me know if you (all you many millions of people reading this) want one too...they're actually really fun for me!

The One About Vacation

I am leaving for Fort Worth tonight, and will either be there or on a plane until Sunday afternoon.

In case you're board while I'm gone...another list of wonderful bloggers.

Pink India Ink

Greedy Girl

Little Green Notebook

Design*Sponge

Orange Beautiful

Jordan Ferney: Oh Happy Day!

The City Sage

Oh Joy!

Elements of Style

I Suwannee

and A Hungry Bear for yummy foodness.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend (be it 2 days or 4) as much as I'm going to. I'll be taking lots of pictures, so get excited for that...and maybe I'll even attempt to blog along the way. And ditto the other post similar to this one - I'll be sure to get these in the sidebar at some point. GOSH! I'm going to have a long sidebar if I keep doing this.

The One About Bloggers

I had a wonderful weekend, and I hope you all did too. I went to work today and spent the majority of the day trying to get 500 coupons mailed out to our client's consumer. TEDIOUS. There was a majorly large Excel document, that I translated into a majorly larger Word labels document. Then - when all the entries didn't translate properly I went through the list and corresponded it to the envelopes - highlighting every one. Needless to say, it's been a long day. SO. Here is a list of blogs I check daily. New ones - not my friends, and not the ones to the right of this post. Brand new.
**except of course to you people who also blog stalk.

The Lil Bee

Twig and Thistle

Abbey Goes Design Scouting

Cupcakes and Cashmere

Unruly Things

For Me, For You

A Cup of Jo

Peonies and Polaroids

Inchmark

Desire to Inspire

and O Pistachio for yummy foodness.

So enjoy those, and unfortunately - not mine today. It's just been too crazy. I'm sure I'll be back tomorrow with lots of riveting information, but for now it's lay-on-the-couch-watching-mindless-TV time.

And I'll be sure to put all of these links over in the blog list, wouldn't it just be miserable to have to find this page every single time you wanted one of these links? Because it's not like you can Google them...

The One With The Blog

My sweet friend Liz (who I forgot about yesterday) has started blogging again. She used to blog and quit, but now she's gotten her groove back - almost like Stella, just without the lusty Jamaican men. I think you should all check her out. She's ridiculously funny, and very smart. She's definitely going to be annoyed by this post. She'll be even more annoyed that I pulled this picture off of her blog and added it here. Love you Liz...

The One With The Baby

Remember that time I told you my boss was trying NOT to have her baby yet...well, she's having the baby. She called into work this morning to say they were being admitted to the hospital and she would be induced today or tomorrow. Right now they are just running a bunch of tests so hope for the best in that situation! So, while they've gotten past the part where it's REALLY scary, Perron is still just a little bit and will need some time in the NICU after he is born. Basically - continue with the praying. Pray for my boss and the baby - but also pray for me because OH HOLY HELL, I'm taking over now...so far that is VERY stressful.

ALSO - remember that other time that I told you I was thinking about changing the way my blog looks...we'll count on that this weekend, I'm finally getting some time to sit down and work on it and so hopefully I'm going to get mine done as well as come up with some cute things for Dawson. I'm excited, inDesign and I are very good friends.

And I have one question. I'm not sure how many people actually read this - BUT have any of you ever lived in a place where the walls were made of plaster? I'm trying to hang some things on my walls but the picture hanger things I bought (at my father's suggestion) make part of the wall fall off. That's weird right? Any suggestions??

The One With The Friday

This is where I am going this weekend (Lake Martin). Rest and relaxation....or not. So far there have been mentions of "text or dare," and gin buckets, which does not sound relaxing. I'm still going to take my book - just in case. I'm also planning on taking my massive camera and trying it out a little bit - hopefully I won't drop it in the lake.

Mexican food tonight. I'm thinking I might try to convince my friends we should have Mexican every Friday, a lot of them did that type of thing in college. My Mexican food at school came during Thursday night happy hour, Saturday lunch because Fuzzy's is the best hangover food EVER, and any other time I craved it or ate out in Fort Worth.

I'm thinking this weekend might result in a change of pace on the blog. Granted, it's still pretty new - but I get the feeling it's hard to read, and I'm going to make my friend Dawson a blog header so I might as well work on mine too. We will see.

I might have gone on a shopping spree yesterday, and by shopping spree I mean I bought 4 t-shirts and 3 headbands at J.Crew for $70. To me that is some serious 'on sale' merchandise and some SERIOUSLY useful purchases, so I don't feel that bad. I LOVE headbands.

I was a little bit serious about the book club. Would anyone really like to do that? I have a HUGE list of books I want to be reading and I think I might do better if I thought other people were interested as well. It could be virtual if you don't happen to live in Birmingham - and it could also involve something fun like a monthly, planned dinner somewhere delicious. Thoughts?

The One Where I Change The Titles

The four people who read this might notice that the titles were changed. I'll admit it - the MAJOR reason for this change is that I DO NOT do math, and the addition was getting to me. As I was changing titles this morning the BF actually pointed out that I got yesterday's number wrong (oops) so I'm taking a cue from Friends and we will see how this works out. This seems much simpler, less confusing for me...and that's the most important thing.

The One Where I Copy My Friends

When it comes to blogging, I am a follower. My friends from school started blogging - and I enjoyed reading about their lives, so I decided that I would try this too. Who cares if I'm just following the crowd? All of that may sound fine and dandy except ALL MY FRIENDS QUIT, and THAT is a problem. Kirbs - you're rocking a rolling out their in Hollywood and Dawson, you have a baby so that's entertaining but seriously girls...where are you!? My friend Liz actually did quit the blogginess, bummer.

But for the rest of you - am I going to have to update for you?

Cait - You have moved into a new apartment in DALLAS, and there's the whole semi-boyfriend, full-time boyfriend situation, so you should have plenty to write about. I want to know if Dallas actually lives up to that one night. Any trips to Buzzbrews - did you order nachos?

Sam - There is a new boy in your Facebook picture, who is this? How is life with Raven and Tike/what did you end up naming him? Any more news about your sleeping boss? How's the Fort without me?

Meredith - You are in Europe. I'm not even asking you to type - just post pictures (although you should have PLENTY to write about). There's at least food, and wine...so that could be a pretty significant blog post (or 4).

I love you and miss you...now fill me in on your lives.

On the note of missing my friends. I booked my first official flight back last night. I'll be arriving Wednesday September 23rd at night, and I'll be leaving Sunday December 27th around lunch time. I made sure I was there for Thursday night on purpose. I think it is only fitting that we happy hour, and depending on how that goes (aka how much alcohol we have consumed) we should make a "I'm creepy and I graduated" trip to the cellar. Y'all better start coming up with the "Top Ten List of Things to Do Once You're a Grown-up in Fort Worth" (wait, that's depressing). Hopefully you'll at least blog about my arrival...you can even just link to me when I talk about it!

The One Where I Start A Blog

I'm starting a bit late, but this is the 11th day of my life on my own. In my opinion, exactly 11 days too many! So far, I've gotten a FABULOUS job, starting working, found a roommate, signed a lease, attempted to begin moving in, made a budget (with the help of my more mathematically inclined boyfriend), decided which stocks I wanted in my 401k (huh?), and learned how to paint furniture. I'm sure the list will continue to grow.

I'm working in an advertising agency which is pretty much my dream job (except for the one semester where I thought I wanted to be a lawyer) and I'm starting to get small little glimpses of what I might get to do in the future, all by myself. Right now their just trying to teach me not to lose millions of dollars for our clients. It's odd how much you DON'T learn about agencies in school. You would think college would prepare you for the real world. It doesn't. It makes you think you're prepared but when you get out it's really more like being thrown down a flight of stairs into some completely off world where you have to support yourself and worry about being homeless.

I'm starting this thing for two reasons. Most importantly, I sit in front of a computer all day and I need something fun to do. I guess that means if I stop blogging for awhile you can assume (probably incorrectly, but I'll let it slide) that I have tons of important work to do. Secondly, I went to school in Texas, live in Alabama, have friends in Missouri, Hollywood, New York, Nashville, Tuscaloosa, Virginia, Atlanta, St. Louis and I'm sure it is only going to get worse. I want to keep track of them, and let them keep track of me. I'm not very good at phone conversations, which I guess is surprising since I spent all of college dating a boy in Virginia, but I'm not. I'm not good at the actual conversation and I'm REALLY not good at remembering to call people back. So. This is it, at least without much effort.

I'm not sure this blog is going to be very entertaining. I'm sure there will be some funny posts, and I'm sure their will be some interesting ones, and I'm sure every once in awhile I'll come up with something relatively important BUT I don't think you'll enjoy this much if you don't know me. I'm pretty sure you won't think I'm very entertaining (not that the people who know me think I'm entertaining). But you never know, I might surprise myself (and you).

So, here we go.
