The One In 1994
Contrary to what Urban is trying to tell themselves...this is NOT a romper. This is a pair of overall shorts. I has some when I was 8, in different colors too. I recognize an overall short when I see it. Light denim, dark denim, khaki. It was not a good phase of my life - and I do not plan on repeating it.
I was fine when things began coming back in style. I actually kind of love the 40's, and I appreciate a few bits of the 80's (namely leggings). Flapper dresses, sequins and feathers are fabulous, so a revival of The Great Gatsby worked fine for me. The 70's were fine- especially the whole maxi dress situation and the return of braids. But OH MY WORD, please leave the 90's out of it. It was HORRIBLE the first time. It was like a massive - can't get out of my bed without getting sick - hangover from the worse parts of the 80's.
Gap - you need to read this too. Acid wash is NOT back, please don't spend the rest of the year popping out 8 different kinds of denim jackets. And I would greatly appreciate it if you would remove this monstrosity from the world entirely. Seriously people...get creative. It's only been 15 years or so since we were wearing these heinous things the first time around.
DISCLAIMER: I apologize to anyone who reads this blog and has recently purchased overalls - in long, short or jumper form - but since you're my friends and I like you ... I feel fairly confident that you have not in fact jumped on this bandwagon. If you have, it's my own humble opinion that you should go ahead and take that right on back to the store.

The One With The House
There is officially a key on my key ring.
It's so interesting how different a house looks with no furniture. I finally noticed that the color of the walls in by bedroom vaguely resembles baby poop, that the kitchen is VERY red, and some of the rooms seem smaller (or bigger).
We've got three weekends to move, paint, re-tile, re-carpet, and a whole lot of other things!
I'm looking forward to all of that...but even more than those things, and the "fixin' up" process - there are five really HUGE things I am looking forward to even more.
Like having a dishwasher, and a disposal, and trashcans that are not three horrific flights of stairs and half a mile over treacherous craters away. I'm pretty sure our kitchen is going to be 12 times as sanitary - and hopefully clean.
Or - having a thermostat, which in and of itself means that there is air conditioning and heat that is INSIDE of our house. No more crazy radiator noise....
Our precious laundry room. Won't it be nice to have actual storage for things like bleach, and cleaning supplies and an iron? Storage that isn't sitting perilously close to things we cook in or eat off of.
And speaking of pots and pans...won't it be nice not to have to wash them BEFORE using them, because our horrific cabinets are built all cattywompus and opening and closing the doors results in a nasty pile of wood shavings landing on the cookware.
I'm also really excited about having windows that close all the way instead of just ignoring the onslaught of lady bugs and refusing to acknowledge where they actually came from.
And bliss...a back yard, with a patio, and patio furniture. Grass that's ours, and a place to sit where you're not watching everyone and their mom drive down the street - or your neighbors have police-inducing screaming matches.
I do have one MAJOR goal before moving out of our apartment. It is very important that I find out who the kids are that live in the other half of the building, where they are going at all hours of the night, why they never go to school on time, where their parents are, and IF these kids are even related.
Kids...if you're reading this, come over - let's have a chat - because you're life completely confuses me.

The One About Charm and Chain
No one told me about this website!
They have some ADORABLE jewelry. There are definitely some pretty pricey pieces, but also some less expensive ones. They have a huge selection, so it's perfect if you're looking for something really fabulous.
And hey, look at that - a mint necklace!

The One About Mint
Apparently mint is out and about in full force this spring. I'm kind of madly in love with these shoes.
I'm also a little bit in love with this color - I'm just not sure it's physically possible to be this tan. Don't you think pale would be a little bit horrendous with this Topshop dress? I could definitely do one of the bags though - or at the very least, that nail polish!

On another note - I'm going to a cookout tonight, the first of the summer, and I am so excited! Kind of unnaturally...
A friend of mine's brothers are coming in town so he and my best friend's boyfriend are having a party. I think the girls are in charge of anything that doesn't revolved around meat and beer. There will be burgers, and sides, and I'm making salad and THESE. Aren't they so precious? I'll definitely let you know when they work out. I just need to go pick up the ice cream...

The One About Closing Day
Wednesday is a really bid day in my apartment! My sweet roommate is responsible, and proactive and all sorts of good things that eventually lead to her buying a house! It's so stinkin' cute and I absolutely can't wait to move in! How nice that we'll have a yard (for my future puppy), a dishwasher (yes, we've been living without a dishwasher - horrendous!), a garbage disposal, normal-built in-not hanging out the window air conditioning and NO STAIRS.
Ah, bliss.
The next couple of weekends are going to be busy! I'm going to have everything (light enough for me to carry down the stairs) moved out in the next couple of weeks and then Memorial Day will result in some professional mover type people that will come get all of our heavy furniture. I've already wrangled my brother into coming up from Auburn one weekend to help (hopefully he remembers that).
I've been thinking about all the fun things we're going to do once we move in. I'm going to cook more often (it helps when you're not frightened of bug bodies getting into your food) and I want to try something really fun. I've always loved those delicious blueberry muffins that have the crumblies on top. Maybe these?
Or maybe we'll start making our own bread? HA! Don't I sound domestic? That's probably going to last all of 1 day.
We've also talked about getting patio furniture and a hammock to have in the back yard. The owners have one now but it's all moldy and disgusting...hopefully that's moving with them!
Wouldn't it be fun to have a couple of precious Adirondack chairs too!?
We'll have a grill to cook hamburgers on, the fabulous prior-owners put in outdoor speakers...so maybe making those work should be added to my brother's to-do list.
I literally cannot wait to be able to walk outside the door and be standing on grass. Right now, I walk out of my apartment door into a nasty stairwell that is generally being occupied by 15 different kinds of spiders and is constantly making me think I'm about to tumble to my death (my sister almost did once...)
Anyways, that's the update on my life - I hope y'all have had a great couple of weeks and that my absence hasn't affected you TOO much. HA!

The One About Baby Bites
A rep just brought Baby Bites from Pastry Arts to the office. Sir, that is an EXCELLENT way to win me over. I always like bribery in the form of cake.
Also, I've been a horrible blogger. OOPS.

The One About Vacation
Guess where I'm going!?
I'm so excited to go visit these people in June. Dawson and I are trying to figure out how to get tickets to Wimbledon. Anyone have any suggestions? I've read the site - I think I just need to sit down with it and pay more attention. My boss went while she was studying abroad over there and felt like it was a really easy thing to do the day-of.
I AM SO EXCITED.
Has anyone else been to London? What were your favorite things? What were your least favorite things? WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR?

The One With A Top Ten
via Jeannot7
I cannot possibly explain every wonderful thing that happened this weekend, so here is a list of ten (and this isn't even really a top ten, because I'm sure that I'm missing something)
In no particular order...
1. mini key lime pies + muds at the club for birthday dinner with the fam
2. the most delicious pasta (after being totally bummed that Bettola took my favorite off the menu for Spring) and the best friends ever to have birthday dinner with
3. sitting outside at 26 with my mom on one of the first pretty nights of Spring (aka my birthday)
4. my sister and her sweet friend Liz coming home for
5. Birmingham has the most amazing T.J.Maxx, and a super awesome shopping trip with mom
6. the fact that my roommate has the most incredible class of 5-year-olds who let me read to them and thought I was the Easter bunny (oops - that's probably my fault)
7. Starburst jelly beans, York peppermint patties and bunny charms for my bracelet in my Easter basket
8. day parties at Paul's - his birthday was just as fun as mine!
9. getting my hair colored (and shortened)
10. having to block out 15 seats in church for the best people ever to be celebrating Easter with
