The One With The Dog Clutch

I would like to meet the person who thinks it's a good idea to spend $5,795 on a crystal bag shaped like a dachshund. Click on the image for the link if you have that kind of cash laying around.

The One About Magnets

We have a new refrigerator in our new house, I know that's really big news - HA. Wouldn't these look adorable on it?

From the MoMA

Aren't magnets the cutest way to brighten up a kitchen on the cheap. These are pretty stinkin' cute too. And look! Magnets to make your fridge look like your phone.

The One At 26

Last night a few of my girlfriends and I went out to dinner for a birthday celebration. We had heard great things about 26's Happy Hour so we decided to give it a try.

I learned that while Happy Hour definitely keeps things LESS expensive, it also tricks your brain into thinking it's reasonable to drink more. Kind of like buying things you don't LOVE just because they're on sale.

After dinner we walked across the street to the Blue Monkey, where I found out that people from the East coast wear sunglasses at night.

Actual conversation (semi-paraphrased) -

Guy in Bar #1 : Dude, you have sunglasses on in the bar.
Guy in Bar #2 : I'm from the East Coast

WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?

Now I'm going to spend tonight on the couch - reading my book and catching up on the DVR - including Grey's Anatomy (which I hear is GREAT, apparently my roommate cried through the whole thing).

I'm also going to pack boxes, which in general sounds heinous.

The One With Thoughts

Work is insane, really, like after this week I'm going to need some super duper drinks, a large carton of icecream, and a robot to load Netflix movies into my DVD player while I hang out on the couch.

Or a straight-jacket.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm going to Vegas in exactly 16 days. Sixteen days until I get to see some of my favorite people in the whole universe. I'm kind of excited about it.

After Vegas my life pretty much spirals out of control and I'm just going to try to hang on for dear life.

Right now, I'm just trying to focus on the fun things...

like Vegas,
and London,
and my really good book that I'm reading,
happy hour with good friends tomorrow night,
the fact that the weather is gorgeous,
and moving into an awesome house,

and not focus on the bad things...

like the fact that I had to go to the DMV today,
and I've only packed 12 boxes (all of books).

And on a completely unrelated note, I saw this post and immediately fell in love with this dress.

but kind of also love this jumpsuit. How very un-me. I'm much more in the vein of these adorable shorts. Helen - maybe you want to scrounge up some money and make these your basic black shorts?

I love Mara Hoffman.

The One With All The Gorgeousness

I'm in love with letterpress. Basically - anything you can letterpress, I pretty much want it. I ran across these business cards on oh happy day this morning and they might be the sole reason I quit my job and go into business for myself. Granted, I'd probably have to be a dog walker or something equally focused on tasks rather than ability, but I could do it with fabulous business cards, and that would be enough for me.

I mean seriously. Anyone have their own business? Could you please order these and then let me hang out with them for awhile?

I've already talked about Etsy, and 1Canoe2 with the Texas print...but seriously. They have some of the most amazing things.

I mean - of course I want letterpress recipe cards, or letterpress coasters or a letterpress address book of sorts.

I'm pretty sure my parents are mom is already dreading picking out the invitations for my future wedding. My parents were invited to a wedding a few months ago that included the most ridiculously gorgeous save the dates. I want them.

Like, OH MY WORD.

and those are just save the dates...

from Bella Figura (Emmy - please tell me you have this at The Scribbler)

Not to mention all of the prints that are done on letterpress. I mean, seriously - how adorable would this be in a kitchen.

I've already mentioned this print, and I still think it's pretty fantastic.

Or this in an office? Wouldn't it be nice - when you're all stressed out, to be reminded to just let some of the junk go?

The One From We Heart It

The One About Dace

I found an email in my inbox this morning that reminded me how much I love this brand. Dace is simple, classic, but with some fun twists in texture, pattern and color.

The first thing I fell in love with was this great dress (and the shirt) mainly because I loved the fabric. And guess what! Now they're both on sale. If you know me at all, then you know I'm a HUGE fan of blue - in all shades.

This gauzy white dress is pretty phenomenal too. Wouldn't it be perfect with flats at a picnic. I also know exactly how I would wear my hair in my fictional life.

So on that note...if anyone is capable of making my thin, very flat, hair do this - I would be forever grateful.

And...I'm looking for a good idea on how to wear my hair up to a wedding. The dress I'm wearing is one shoulder with a bow, and I think it would look better to have my hair up. I'm horrible at all things that involve me being able to see the back of my head, so this could be an interesting challenge.

Any thoughts?

The One About Derby Day

Happy Derby Day!

My parents are in Louisville right now with a friend of my dad's who owns one of the horses running today, so everybody put your money on Mission Impazible! I'm beyond jealous, but they're hopefully bringing back presents...

My mom is definitely NOT a hat person, so we've been pulling together outfits for what feel like FOREVER, and dad wore a pink and green paisley tie to The Oaks yesterday. How interesting...

I guess these are the fun things you get to do when you're semi-empty-nesters. I'll be at home babysitting they're puppy-child.

I think based on my need to own hats and pretty dresses...I really should have been invited to this shindig as well. Wouldn't today be so much better spent wearing this...

derbyday

UPDATE: Congratulations to Super Saver, and that sleezy looking man who won the $100,000 bet.
